Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua and Former Makueni Senator, now Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jnr during Kalonzo Musyoka's return visit to Wamunyoro residence on Monday.
As 2027 approaches, Kitui's leadership debate is about experience, accountability, and the Makueni example. Makueni has become the reference for devolution, public participation and service delivery. Kitui residents are now asking if they can borrow those lessons to solve water scarcity, rural roads, healthcare, markets and youth unemployment.
Hon. Enoch Kiio Wambua's name is emerging in that conversation. His Senate experience in oversight and legislation is known. The question is whether that experience can translate into running a county government, managing budgets, planning development, and delivering services.
Voters want to know his concrete plan for water, healthcare, roads, farmers, small businesses and youth. The same questions apply to all contenders.
The 2027 race should be about development, not just personalities. Kitui needs a realistic, fundable program and clear accountability. Learning from Makueni can inform the debate, but Kitui must choose its own path.
