The political landscape of Kitui County is steadily taking shape ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Hon. Sen. Enoch Kiio Wambua increasingly emerging as a formidable force in the race for the Kitui gubernatorial seat.
The two-term elected Senator for Kitui County, under the Wiper Democratic Movement, has intensified his grassroots engagements across the county, taking his vision, agenda and development plans directly to the people.
Last week, Senator Wambua held a successful series of rallies across eleven wards in Kitui County, receiving what supporters described as a heroic and enthusiastic reception from residents.
The tour began on Wednesday in Mwingi North Constituency, with rallies at Katse Mumoni Ward and later Kyuso Market in Kyuso Ward. The Senator addressed the growing insecurity facing residents, particularly the menace of armed camel herders, and outlined his commitment to protecting lives and property. He also articulated his plans for improved healthcare services across the county.
On Thursday, the tour moved to Kitui Rural Constituency, with stops at Kanyangi Market in Kanyangi Ward and Kiusyani in Yatta/Kwavonza Ward. Here, Senator Wambua addressed the stalled multi-billion-shilling Kwa Kilui Stone Crusher project and emphasized the need for improved water harvesting to support agriculture, food security and economic empowerment.
Friday saw the political caravan move to Kitui South Constituency, with rallies at Muangeni Market in Athi Ward and Ikanga Market in Ikanga/Kyatune Ward. Key issues included wildlife invasion, insecurity, camel invasion in Mutha and the urgent need to improve healthcare services.
On Saturday, Senator Wambua took his message to Kitui East Constituency, addressing residents at Zombe Town in Zombe/Mwitika Ward and later Inyuu Market in Chuluni Ward. He reaffirmed his commitment to ending the camel invasion menace, tackling illegal sand harvesting in major county rivers, improving education, strengthening agriculture and transforming healthcare.
The tour culminated on Sunday. Senator Wambua first attended a church service at AIC Kitundumo in Mutonguni Ward before proceeding to Kakeani Market in Kitui West Constituency, where he made his strongest political declaration yet: that he is going for the Kitui gubernatorial seat in 2027—and that he is going to win decisively.
The eleven-ward tour followed earlier successful rallies at Kwasiku Market in Migwani Ward, Mwingi West Constituency, and Karung'a Market in Kivou Ward, Mwingi Central Constituency.
Throughout the engagements, Senator Wambua articulated his vision for a new Kitui County in 2027—a county driven by development, modern agriculture, water security, quality healthcare, education, environmental protection and programmes designed to lift residents out of poverty.
